Why I Teach CPR: A Very Personal Story
Eight years ago, my son was born with a life-threatening heart defect—Transposition of the Great Arteries. What started as a perfect delivery quickly turned into one of the scariest moments of our lives. His skin turned blue, his oxygen plummeted, and within days he underwent open heart surgery.
On day seven, I finally held him for the first time—IVs, tubes, and all. Today, he’s a healthy, thriving boy, but that experience changed me forever. It showed me how fragile life can be and how much every second matters in an emergency.
That’s why I teach CPR and lifesaving skills. For me, it’s not about a certification card—it’s about giving medical professionals, families, teachers, and everyday people the confidence to act when lives are on the line.
This is my why.
